The Condemned is a fun game. I’m very proud of what I’ve made. It’s something I love sharing with others. But at the same time, it touches on a pretty dark topic. The United States incarcerates more of its citizens per 100,000 than any other first world nation by a large margin. (source) In addition, there is a significant racial disparity in the people incarcerated, with prosecutors twice as likely to charge blacks as they are other races. (source)

With The Condemned, I saw an opportunity. I could take my game and use it for something good. For the entire month of August, I will donate a portion of all Booster Pack, Starter Set, and Play Mat sold to The Innocence Project. They are a fantastic organization that works to free the innocent, protect wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. The Condemned deals with the worst of the worst in a fictional universe. In the real world, it’s a lot more complex. There may be people who deserve to be there, but an estimated 5% of the nearly 2 million people in the USA are wrongfully convicted. This means there could be as many as 100,000 people behind bars who shouldn’t even be there. People with families, people with children, people who have had their lives upended. The Innocence Project can help right the injustice these people face.
Over the last 30 years, The Innocence Project has helped free or exonerate more than 250 innocent people. Of those victories, they involved eyewitness misidentification, unvalidated forensic science, false confessions, and even informants who pointed the finger at the wrong person! With your help, you can help them free even more wrongfully convicted brothers and sisters.
Here’s how you can help:
- Buy a booster pack from the Juel Games Store or any retailer. Currently, The Condemned is available at Highlander Games. If your store doesn’t sell The Condemned, have them check out our Faire store to get started.
- Spread the word
- Make a donation of your own to The Innocence Project. All donations are tax deductible and go directly to changing lives.
At the end of August, I will donate a portion of my sales for the month. Follow @condemnedccg on X and check back here for more updates.
