Hello Condemned! I hope you had a great week. I had a fantastic weekend, with an awesome virtual tournament on Tabletop Simulator. June and Foxxo threw down with the theme decks from Chaotic Assault, and we had a ton of fun with it. I’m working on getting the videos done up for uploading to Youtube. Speaking of, you should totally go subscribe to that channel. Just saying. I’ll have that uploaded very soon. If you missed out on this tournament, fear not! I will run another tournament on Saturday, March 1. Make sure you joined The Condemned CCG discord. You’ll need to be on there. Anyhoo, let’s move on and talk about today’s new card!

One of the things that make card games like The Condemned stand out is getting your damage in when and where you need to. Keywords and effects that increase that effectiveness are important. I like building cards that do funky things to get in, and it was always on my to do list to make cards that can get in for guaranteed damage. That said, you need to balance such cards. Too much guaranteed damage, and the game gets a little unbalanced. Look at unblockable creatures in Magic. They’re usually low power, low toughness, and they become an instant target for removal. But they’re still useful! They’re a little bit of damage coming through, they put your opponent on a clock, it’s all good. Circling back to The Condemned, let’s talk about today’s card. Today’s card falls into the category of guaranteed damage. This is perfect for Electric Weapons. Electric Weapons are pure chaos, doing all sorts of wild things. And sometimes, that means super evasion. Behold, the Stun Baton:

I deliberately designed Stun Baton to be a narrow focus, guaranteed damage Weapon that will give you a small edge in combat. Or, if done correctly, it’ll do a lot of damage to a few single targets. That was the goal out of this one. The Stun Baton cannot be parried. You’re going in, regardless of what your opponent says. That said, your options for boosting damage are very limited. Part of this was because I absolutely did NOT want to have players combining this with Alpha Strike. That’s a little too degenerate for my tastes. And I like Alpha Strike! That should say something about how I felt about this.

So what can you use to buff this Weapon? Well…

Currently, there’s really only one that I can think of off the top of my head: Stitch Plate. But then again, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I still plan on making more Armor and Condemned that will play nice with this Weapon. You’ll just have to wait and see when that happens, yeah?

Cards like these are tough. You can’t make them too weak and you can’t make them too powerful. I think I hit the sweet spot on this one. Also, this card will be in the theme decks for Chaotic Assault. Not telling you which one just yet, we’ll get there. But this card brings us up to:

23/128 cards

If you want to try out the theme decks, the best way to do so is in The Condemned CCG Discord. Join in, and take part in the next online tournament. The last one was a ton of fun, I’ll have those uploaded to the Youtube channel soon. Make sure you’re subscribed to get notified when I upload them. Also, if you like these cards, please follow the Kickstarter. The more people follow the campaign, the better chance I’ll have of reaching my goal. It also helps me gauge how much to order for the initial allocation. But that’s going to wrap up this update. Stay tuned for next week, when I drop a new Condemned! It’s going to be a fun one. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you in the Arena!
