Hello Condemned! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve shared an update. I’ve been hard at work showing off The Condemned, running events, and reaching out to new stores. This time of year is always busy for me in general, too. So I apologize for the delay in updates, but these things happen. It also didn’t help that I got hit by writer’s block. That’s the worst when you need to make new blog posts. But that’s enough about me! You’re not here to hear me ramble. You’re here for new cards!

One of the challenges that comes with making new Condemned is making them fit the theme of the set, and also feel unique. With Chaotic Assault, I knew that I needed a handful of Crazed Condemned who would make appearances. Some of them would have more influence than others. There needs to be Condemned in all rarity slots in the booster packs, so that there are options in draft. Ones that show up in the common slot will be regular in draft play, which means they’re going to be super visible. I know I’m going to need more Condemned in the Common slots, ones that let you do different things. Sometimes, they might not have abilities, but they can have identifiers or weight classes to give them a little bit of synergy with other cards in the set. That’s the case with this card. And with that, allow me to introduce Babbler!

Babbler is a common Condemned that you’ll see in draft and some constructed play. One thing I realized early on with Enter The Arena was that I need to have a breadth of common Condemned for draft purposes. With only Daisy and GRip in the common slot in Enter The Arena, They’re just not frequent enough in the pack distributions to really be of any import in draft. I even mentioned it in this Draft Talk article. So now there will be four common Condemned in the Chaotic Assault!

You’ve already seen the first one, too. The Pacifier was one that I identified early on as being a solid option in the Common slot. She’s reasonably balanced, she’s got a flashy ability, and I liked what I had come up with for her. You might have noticed a change in the card, too. That is intentional. I have added some shading to several icons on the card, including the little gem at the top and the life symbol. You’ll see other cards updated with this in the near future. All cards in Chaotic Assault will have the new icons, and when I finally get around to reprinting Enter The Arena, so will those cards.

Babbler is the latest Condemned to show up, and I still have more to spoil! Right now, we’re up to:
